Plaid... Do I need to say it again?

PLAID!!!!

Recently I’ve been loving anything and everything plaid! From shirts to scarves, gloves to galoshes, hats to hand watches, plaid is my go to pattern. But don’t be fooled, there are no lumberjacks in this household.

Love Always,
Kirsten

P.S. I hope to make every Wednesday an "On Wednesdays We Wear" post, where I pick a trend or style that I am loving that week to showcase on the blog.

My Style Evolution / Introduction

Growing up my wardrobe was all floral dresses and cowgirl boots (often substituted for jellies, does anyone else remember those?). California grown, you might not expect to see an abundance of cowboy boots, but I had at least two with me at all times. I owned a pastel pink and even a stark white pair.

Pants were non-existent, and putting on anything but floor length dresses was a straight up struggle. However I, like many people, went through vast wardrobe evolutions. During my middle school days I let go of all dresses and found myself wearing nothing but cargo khakis and logo t-shirts. This is what I would call the most awkward fashion stage of my entire life... so far.

Cowgirl boots, dresses, and the color pink was all-together thrown out from my closet. I started my tomboy phase. For four years all the way through freshman year of High School my wardrobe consisted of some sort of pants and a t-shirt. Often I wonder if the part of my brain that decides what I want to wear was making up for the prior years full of girly glitz and glam. However I knew it would change, and so it did.

In the middle of High School I adopted what I like to call the School Chic look. I started to try and dress a bit more feminine, but also would not completely let go of my jeans and t-shirts. Every day was different. I had no statement piece. One day it was jeans and a t-shirt, the next it was shorts and a sequined tank top. To put it bluntly, I still don’t know where I stand, but the three years immediately after High School I knew it was my time to find myself.

Fashion has the ability to be overwhelming if you let it get to you. Although I believe what you wear and how you wear it is just an exaggeration of what people can not see. The things you put on your body help people discover more about who you are.

This blog is all about the clothes I’m loving in the moment. You may often see boots, pants, and a nice tomboy-ish top (my ultimate favorite combo currently). Keep in mind that what I love one day can change the next, so this blog is going to evolve along with my spirit and mood.

I wish for this blog to turn into a gloriously fashionable, and easy going break from the real world that we can all escape to when we are in need of some retail therapy.

Side Note: A lot of the images that I will be posting, unless otherwise specified, will be gathered from Pinterest (my all-time favorite time wasting activity). I will do my very best to give credit to the parties that are responsible for the images, however, if I am unable to find the original owner, I will just specify the photo as the property of Pinterest. I am by no means taking credit for other people’s job well done.

P.S. I eventually hope to post only my photographs, and when that day comes, I will be sure to let you know. :) Enjoy!

Welcome

Hello there! Welcome to Kirsten Nicole Huxtable, a blog I've created to pursue my love of fashion (my sweet addiction).

My name is Kirsten Nicole Huxtable (was that too obvious?), I'm a 21 year old college student that lives in Brentwood / LA, and I will be blogging the hell out of this place!
